The Tension collection is an ongoing exploration of flexibility and tension in sheet metal. By bending each sheet to create tension and locking it in place with horizontal shelves, a solid connection between the different parts is achieved. No screws, glue, or welds are used—only the sheet’s natural tendency to return to its original shape.
The collection spans shelves, side tables, bowls, and benches, among others, each shaped by the tension and form of the material.
Mostly formed out of stainless steel, but other materials are available on request.
No glue, screws, or welds are used — only the sheet’s natural tendency to return to its original shape.

In 2019 I graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven with the first collection of my Tension pieces - back then still called Borders of Assembly. This collection laid the foundation for my current design practice.
the research started with my interest in industrial processes, standardisation and applying interventions in those two.
Sheet metal is commonly folded to eliminate its flexible properties and to enhance stiffness. However, this inherent flexibility can be used to our advantage. Through precise manufacturing, a design language emerges: the metal's flexibility is utilised to interlock pieces by exploiting the sheet's tendency to return to its original shape after bending. Each piece of furniture is crafted from a standard size sheet measuring 1000 by 2000 millimeters.
These works were made of zinc plated steel.
